im fucking sorry but ryan owning a fob shirt that says “death before betrayal” and hero worshipping him for years before they meet and ryan being “the most expensive thing pete ever bought” except a chanel brooch pete also bought him and then ryan would write an album heavily quoting gay french poets that closely mirrored what they had and ultimately they would have a sleepover with petes wife and quote gay poet oscar wilde together at this sleepover and then afterwards ryans band would break up and pete would betray him by siding with his former bandmates and kicking him off his label and the news would get broken to ryan via a journalist pete would go on to write a book about sex and suicide with. this is all real. i did not make any of this up . puking excessively

‘she’s not only his fiancée she’s also his bestie’ — akane is definitely ranma’s bestie
he really goes to her to talk about his dreams/nightmares, he tells her about his adventures, they think the same things, and she encourages him to let others help him … the best of besties 💕
RIGHT??? I love that the longer they know each other the more in sync they get, just like what happens irl!!
THEY ALSO JUST GENUINELY ENJOY SPENDING TIME AND GOOFING OFF TOGETHER
Now cus I’m thinking about it, “if Ranma ½ was modern day and they all had cell phones” headcanons
Ranma: His phone is constantly lost and/or stolen (by Genma as often as by his suitors and rivals), so he never bothers to load apps, never makes calls/sends texts, and only very rarely takes calls/replies to texts. Whenever he does have it, the wallpaper is an unflattering photo of Akane making a weird face a) to make her mad b) cus it makes him laugh and c) cus genuine affection.
Akane: Always has a bunch of cute cell phone charms she uses until they wear out or fall off. Her wallpaper is a cutesy (poorly-)filtered photo of P-chan. Ranma is PISSED
Nabiki: Has a suspiciously nicer phone than everyone else in her family. Uses a lot of social media, but mostly just reads others’ posts instead of making any herself. Her lockscreen is always a different photo of her dad. She doesn’t openly show it to him, but Soun will occasionally catch a glimpse of it and get really emotional and give her pocket money or buy her something. When she unlocks the phone, the homescreen wallpaper is a screenshot from her current favorite movie.
Kuno: Has obnoxious wooden “good fortune in love” type shrine charms hanging off his phone and loudly clacking against each other. Always has the newest model of phone but never understands how it works and constantly orders bystanders to “utilize the applications” for him. His wallpaper is a professionally taken glamour shot of himself. He occasionally mistakes it for a mirror
Mousse: His wallpaper is a photo of Shampoo, generally low-quality/at a weird angle/blurry/etc cus he has to snap them in secret. Shampoo regularly steals his phone, deletes the photos, and changes the wallpaper to a picture of Daisy Duck. It can take up to a month before Mousse notices
Shampoo: Her wallpaper is a candid photo of Ranma screaming or otherwise looking upset, because she shouts “RANMA!” before snapping it to make sure he turns around and that’s his candid reaction to seeing her. (She doesn’t seem to mind.) Constantly calls/texts Ranma using lots of emojis. He tried blocking her once but her revenge was scary, so now he replies with thumbs-up emojis or sweatdrop smiley emojis (when he actually has his phone and isn’t in the middle of a fight or some other Ranma shenanigans).
Ukyo: Has an old-but-still-working phone since she doesn’t care much for apps (except her restaurant’s food instagram). Her wallpaper is always a photo of one of her okonomiyaki, or a downloaded photo of someone else’s okonomiyaki if she finds it inspiring.
Ryoga: Wants to make his wallpaper a photo of Akane but is too self-conscious, so his phone is usually set to the default wallpaper. Occasionally Ranma will steal it, take a selfie or download a meme or a sexy pinup photo, and set that as the wallpaper (and get punched). Ryoga’s GPS app worked great until his inability to follow directions required it to constantly recalculate the route and the strain made the app super buggy. He hasn’t noticed
The most unrealistic thing about Ranma ½ is that Takahashi keeps trying to convince the audience FOUR different girls are attracted to boy Ranma
I don’t wanna be controversial or anything, (I don’t thin it is but anyway) but, I fell that in ranma ½, they did akane dirty u.u. I mean, they show us this young woman that loves to fight and is pretty damn good at it, that also desires to keep the dojo alive, but then ranma come to her life, and although she is still strong and pretty independent, we lose that part of her, the part that is a bad bitch whit a dream and a big ass passion about fighting. It is OUTRAGEOUS that at some point in the series (I’m still reading the manga tho) akane stopped growing as a fighter. I mean, I get that she is not as strong as, idk, shampoo, but honey, she still could be growing and growing and she doesn’t umu
* Akane was much less invested in martial arts before her mother died. after her death, teaching the katas and the routine of exercise became both a coping mechanism and the primary bonding method for soun. little akane latched onto martial arts because she could see the good it was doing for her father
* Ranma is (on paper) a really low ranking. Since his father basically took him on a training roadtrip straight out of a kung fu movie, he has next to no idea how dojos actually work. he took the tests to get a higher belt ranking like, idk, twice. Akane ropes him into being part of a demonstration for a women’s self defense class and he was FLOORED. no student was getting hurt, everyone was being supported and encouraged. what kind of training method was this? there are mats everywhere so people can fall or flip each other safely- is this new???
* Ranma can barely read Japanese, but he knows a smattering of almost all asian languages, just from back-packing with his dad.
* Of the entire Nerima Wrecking Crew, only Akane would be eligible to participate in a legal tournament. she doesn’t go for low blows/attacking from behind, her opponents know that they’re in a fight, she doesn’t rely on hidden/improbable weapons or ki attacks
*genma likes spending time as a panda because he digests food slower (stays full longer), has a fur coat to keep him warm, he doesn’t have to constantly carry an umbrella or a tea kettle around, and he secretly likes not having to wear pants
*After his wife died, soun was an emotional wreck. his daughters picked up the slack (Kasumi became the housewife, Nabiki made sure the bills were paid and everything was in good repair, and i’ll bet Akane took over teaching more than a few times when Soun just couldn’t handle it that day) but having Genma around (basically as a minder/ emotional support panda) is what really stabilized his mood swings.
*ryoga makes sure to buy souvenirs every time he gets lost and ships them back home, or to the tendos. whenever he gets back home he updates a series of maps he has with a dot every place he’s been. once ranma and akane calculated how far he’s walked and it came out to just over 20,000 miles- for weeks Ranma kept singing the “i would walk 10,000 miles” song at him.
*before her mother died and she had to take over the household, Kasumi dreamed of becoming a chef at a fancy restaurant. when everyone else is out, she’ll teach herself a new recipe to try. once a month Kasumi takes a ‘self-care day’ and has lunch out at a beautiful restaurant and tries something new each time.
*Nabiki supplements the family finances by blackmailing stock brokers and hedge fund managers. once she graduates she fully intends on going to business school to learn how to do it herself.
* there’s a difference in the tendo/saotome branches of anything goes martial arts. ranma’s way more honorable than his father but when he gets into a difficult spot, he has no trouble with low/dirty blows. akane on the other hand mostly fights hand to hand, though she’s been shown to have the equipment and skills for swords, bow/arrows, a spear once or twice (IIRC) and others. this tells me that while the Saotomes method is more ‘any means within reasons necessary’, the Tendo school of thought relies more on prepardness and adaptability
*akane occasionally trains at outside dojos (the tendos don’t have room for an archery range), and she practices fighting against opponents who are armed. Ranma tags along once and is surprised that she actually has competitive friendships at the different schools opposed to friendly rivals who sometimes try to kill her the way he has.
